Efficacy and Tolerability of Lidocaine Patch for Post-herpetic Neuralgia

A 12-month study of 249 patients with neuropathic pain symptoms from previous herpes zoster infection suggests that long-term treatment with a 5% lidocaine medicated plaster may provide substantial and maintained reductions in pain intensity and that it is continuously well tolerated. These findings support the use of the 5% lidocaine medicated plaster as one of the first-line therapies in this population. Hans G, Sabatowski R, Binder A, et al.
