The Center for Health and Healing, an initiative of Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, provides fully integrative health care by practitioners of modern Western medicine, traditional indigenous medicine, and progressive mind-body therapies in a specially designed healing environment. The Center's vision is comprehensive, including clinical services, educational offerings, scientific research, and outreach efforts.
The Center's website at www.healthandhealingny.org offers in-depth and reliable information for both health-care providers and consumers on the history and development of integrative medicine as well as the philosophy, history, and practice of 26 healing modalities. In order to provide an evidence-based approach, selected and annotated listings of high quality research studies and reviews in the field of integrative health care have been arranged both by healing modality and by 66 health conditions.

Patients come to the Center either through a referral from their healthcare provider or through self-referral. For self-referrals, you can make an appointment for any of the many services offered by the Center. However, for those who would like guidance in choosing a service, patients can consult with our clinical nurse specialist, either through your choice of a brief telephone conversation or a scheduled session.
The Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care is dedicated to providing
comprehensive care of the highest quality in pain management and palliative
care, and advancing the educational and research aims of these disciplines.
The clinical mission is pursued through the efforts of interdisciplinary teams
in two divisions, the Pain Division and the Palliative Care Division. The
professional staff in the Pain Division offers state-of-the-art therapies,
including drug treatment, psychological approaches, injection therapies, and
implants. In both pain management and palliative care, scientific principles
are applied with compassion, continuity, and respect for the autonomy and
